Why Sandra Bullock is my Aunt Sandy. 

Well for starters, I knew Sandra Bullock my whole life. People do not realize this, but I have. I remember when I would be watching TV and she would appear in my all time favorite movie: Practical Magic. Then as the years progressed, the movie title got lost somehow and then I had to ask my mom about it. We confirmed it and there you go! I remembered and will forever remember Practical Magic. Also Miss Congeniality came out and then a slew of movie titles started hitting me all at once, but I knew growing up that my mother adored Sandra Bullock as well as other talented actresses like Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan. 

But Sandra Bullock just stuck out to me. She resembled and still does emanate the beauty, power, and confident resilience that my own mother has today tucked away so secretly. That is why I refer to her as Aunt Sandy because in all of her movies she carries a uniform element that I see in my mother. Sandra Bullock is like a sister that my mother never had. 

And one day when I break through the ice as a television talk show host, I am going to try my hardest to unite the two. I want to bring back the full confidence in my mother. Because my mother deserves to see herself fully as oppose to watching her inner self on TV, because the spitfire that resides in Sandy is the same burning brush of womanhood and humanity that my mother’s soul sparked from.
